Next to playing WoW my second greatest hobby is playing tabletop roleplaying games like dungeons and dragons.
Hence I couldnt resist buying The World of Warcraft rpg book.
LINKY: www.white-wolf.com/warcraftrpg/
As im the current gamemaster/storyteller of my friends here in NL. I thought why not give it a try on the guildmeeting, if ppl are interesting. Ill explain some quick rules below so you can get a feel whats it about.
Chapter 1: Introduction
Tabletop roleplaying, is where you sit around a table with some friends. One is the storyteller and he tells what the others ( the players) see and how their actions work out. The storyteller also plays all the npc's and monesters etc and thinks up a story to play.
The players all play their own character. Ex. A priest of mage or whatever.
Example of play
warning contains abuse of WoW ingame characters
[storyteller] Me telling/describing the adventure
[Guuba] Martin playing a troll hunter
[Darkreaver] Dan playing a forsakern mage
Cursive text is things which are ingame/or incharacter.
Normal text is outgame!
[Storyteller]
You stand in front of a cavemouth partially hidden in the oasis undergrowth. On closer inspectation, the floor of the cave entrance is scarred with what looks like giant clawmarks
[Guuba]
Ok I walk over to the clawmarks and examine them closely, what do i know that could have caused them?
[Storyteller]
Not anything shorter then a devilsaur. In anycase not something that would fit in the cave.
[Darkreaver]
While guuba is checking those marks I am going to try to see if there something further down the cave.
[Storyteller]
You could try that, but its a bit dark further down. You cant make out things clearly.
[Darkreaver]
Ok then ill make some light by tossing a fireball down the cavetunnel.
[Storyteller]
Lol ok that should work
You gather some fire energy for a fireball and toss it down the down. In the light of the fireball you see serveral shadows stalking in your direction. Now they have been found out they are comming your way in a full charge
[Guuba]
Do i see them too?
[Storyteller]
Well concidering someone throws a fireball past your head, think you probally will be folowing it with your eyes. Yeah you see the things.
[Guuba]
And they look like?
[Storyteller]
Uhm, they look like. Raptors in mid flight, after making a leaping charge for your face.
[Darkreaver]
This cant be good
[Storyteller]
*grins* yeah, roll for initiative
Now guess whats instance they are exploring,
(edit : yup wailing caverens)
After I add some info on classes/races and combat. ill make an example for combat.
Chapter 2: Races and Classes
