If u wanna keep the aggro from the first mob, then dont go throwing sunders at different targets. Cause if the rest of the group is doing their work and assisting u, taunt, mockingblow and challenging shout is more then enough for u to keep all aggro.
The problem is ppl dont watch the tanks target, and then the warrior have to run around getting aggro back, and sometimes ending up not having aggro from any mob. Just assist the warrior all the time, and all 5mans are very simple.
Just because ur not a warrior or priest, it doesnt mean u can go full dps on any mob, and then blame the priest or warrior cause u died. Its really easy to watch the tanks target all the time...

Mods that show your targets target are great for that, allows you to see if the tank has settled on one target for killing.
Still glad I have a druid for tanking, swipe is <3
Ought to add that in most 5 man instances rogue/hunter/paladin (shaman if you're horde!) can tank an add just fine without causing wipes, wipes usually come from extra adds in my experience and that's from patrols/runners or bad positioning.

It's not the gold that's annoying when you're wiping it's the ressing up and re buffing and having to replace people which takes time and is super annopying. I wont even mention how much i've spent once over 3 days in bwl because of all our wipes and fuck ups. I think using a repair bots up the cost by like 25% or something which is pretty gay.
For tanking i'd suggest as soon as you're 60 if you're a DPS class you always watch for how many saunders a mob has on it before attacking, it takes a while to work out how much aggro you generate but after a while you can learn to control it pretty much and wont be pulling aggro much. A mage pulling aggro at some of the boss fights is a certain wipe while you're learning an instance so try not to be lazy in 5 man and assist the tanks correctly, Phase 3 Onyxia or Baron Geddon for example. You can get away from nuking and Aoeing everything in Start/Scholo etc but it really is worth paying attention will make other more end game stuff alot easier.
Healers should also know about aggro. People should be using lower rank heals when they can since aggro is all about the amount you heal, over healing doesn't generate aggro just the actual amount of hp you heal. I always try to heal for 600-800 at the start of a fight once there are 5 saunders on the target i change and start to heal for 800-1000 depending on situation.
Getting used to using CTraid assist is also something i'd suggest, the players target and players target target are really nice to use for mt's especially for healing, if MT dies/losses aggro to someone then you can quickly switch who you're healing.

isn't there some mod that chooses the right spell depending on how much HP your target has and chooses the best healing spell for it? I think I've read somewhere that there's one for paladins,Im not sure if there is one for other classes though.

The current game you UI let's you display the target of target, you don't need a mod for that.
About that mod you mentioned Natsuki (The on that chooses the right rank of a healing spell, so that it doesn't cause much agroo...Plus I think there's a mod that calculates the required healing so that you don't waste mana) I'm going to look it up on Curse Gaming.

Well there used to be mods that makes it so you dont over heal at all but they dont work any more, Blizzard changed some macro scripts. But the point is that over healing isn't what causes aggro it's just the build up of healing over time that does it, say for example you start healing non stop highest rank greater heals and the tanks gets stunned/dies/something reduces his aggro early in the fight you will grab aggro and pull it to the healer group which will be a pretty fast wipe
