WARNING WARNING WALL OF TEXT INCOMING!
K so another raid that went well, some more gear some more rep all went well, I know most off us know this but i thought a good thread regarding the do's and dont's of raiding would be handy. Most of us in guild got this down to a tee, but as new people come raiding i thought it would be best for them to have a little place to start and even the UBER arisen crew can sometimes do with our memories refreshing. Please feel free to add to this post, I will try and update the bullet points as often as possible.
DO'S
1. Come to raids ontime as much as you can, If you have a problem or are gonna be late tell a officer on forums or in games.
(there is nothing worse as we know when its 30mins past invites time and we are 5 men short and stuck wondering who to invite)
2.Get your gear in order, Geared that is broke funnily enough dont work, make sure when u start a raid you are at 100% dur, with enough gold to repair when repair bot comes out! (If u have secondary gear dps/tanking/healing make sure all is repaired u never know when u will need it!)
3. Know your instance, If u are new to the instance weather it be scholo or BWL if u dont know what you are doing or have never been b4, ask guild members for advice on the instance, what buffs to use. If its a big raid we will usual have a forum topic with links to how boss fights go READ EM. Explainning in raids can be hard so please try and have a good idea of what u need to do before you get to the instance.
4. Come Prepared, Time wise raiding can take along time, Try to be ready for a long slog, It may take 3-4 hours to do a run. If you have to leave for a amount of time please say so cleary in raid chat with BRB 5MIN then put your /afk flag on, makes running raids alot easier
5.Potions, This point is dam important, Every class has potions that will help you out in raids healers should try to bring 5-6 major mana pots, meele classes a few healing pots, tanks alot more!
6. Banadges, these are so important , IF YOUR NOT 300 FIRST AID, GET SKILL LVLING! Bring no less than 20 banadges per run, this is a must! The amount of times healers have to waste mana on classes that could have just moved away from the boss and banadged themself. It saves you, save your healers mana and probably saves your tanks life!
7. Regents, Bring far more than is needed at all time, if you dont use em keep em for next raid, to be the only person not able to buff, vanish, use posions, can waste time while ppl swap regents or even have to run bak to IF to get more.
8. Add-on, Teamspeak is a working part of arisen raiding, if you dont have it you'll end up dead, cause a HUGE amount of hassle for raid leader and raid. Tatics are the life and soul of Major instance, If your not in tune with whats going on it will cause wipes. GEM wanta know when ZG is? Get GEM. CT_raid the last mod if you have never used this mod it is just pure brilliance when it comes to raids, it will tell u when bosses are trying to heal, show u what target which tank has, show the debuffs, the buff, the HP the MP of the raid. BASICALLY ITS AWSOME!
9. (Sariela's input) Listen to your leader, Make sure you can understand what the Raidleader is saying, and make sure you follow his final plan, Make sure ideas on boss tatics that would take a complete reworking of the tatics firstly set out by raid leader are psoted on forums or talked through with raidleader AFTER raids!
DONT'S
(ill try not to go over any DO's by saying the reverse of em)
1. Spam!, Dont use /ra for spam it makes running raids so much more difficult, ppl have to scroll up, and it is just a pain!
2. Speak during raid rolling and raid bidding, This isnt as important in 5 mans ofc but when we have say 7 ppl rolling for a item in ZG and ppl are asking about the other items that have dropped it makes it impossible to keep your mind on the item that 7 pp have just rolled for, so try to keep quiet.
3. Be negative about raidleaders ideas, If you come into a raid saying you know best and thinking your opinion counts more than other people in raid then this probably aint the guild for u tbh, OFC when i lead raids i ask ppl to follow the my ideas and experience of the bosses, But as with tongiht i didnt know specifical what to do, so i asked for help, we brain stormed really, and everyone was listened to and we came up with what we though was a plan. If you say something in a way that ppl understand and are nice about your idea will be taken on board.
4. Keep whispers to raidleader/masterlooter to a minimum, Raid leaders get msgd all the time, Its hard to talk to a raid of 20 ppl 1 by 1 all at once, If its some form of tatic as in point 3. use /ra so all can add to it, OFC whisper raid leader if u have to leave.
5. Try not to Log without explaination, if you have to go you have to go IRL can be a pain we all know but try to just say something in raid like, sorry guys need to go to bed real late for me now, and everyone will understand, If u must go LOG OFF dont leave your character to go auto offline as we cant add new people to raid.
6.If you have a major issue with something in raid, If you think the loot system isnt fair, or think the way we lay out groups isnt right, Things that cant really be changed on the spot, post on the forums with you reason why you dont like it and a better system, its easy to say something sucks but hard to come up with something better
K thats it for now, if anyone would like to add a point please feel free to post below and ill add.
